This summer, I’ve been traveling to beautiful sites at the tip of the southwestern tip of the United States. The best part about traveling is that you can do it as long as you want and only have to get up for a few hours each day.
Southwest Travel is a bit of a misnomer. The majority of it is in the desert, on the western half of the state of Arizona. But there are also a couple of cities and towns that you can visit.
Southwest travel is not that expensive. I’ve been spending around $100 a day. The average price per person is between $25 and $50. The most expensive place I’ve been is the city of Flagstaff, which is where you’ll find all of the sights and entertainment at the western edge of the state. I’ve been to a couple of the other towns and cities too, but my favorite so far was Flagstaff.
The city of Flagstaff is a gem and a bit of a hidden gem. It sits on one of the best roads in the state. This is because of the town of Flagstaff was once the “Gold Rush Capital of the West.” When gold was discovered in the area a town was founded to serve this purpose. Unfortunately, after gold was discovered the town was abandoned and the roads were left unpaved. The population slowly dwindled until only a few people lived here.
That’s not the only reason I love Flagstaff. The town is beautiful and picturesque. Plus, the best part is the town is connected by a river. If you go across the river you can go a couple miles along the river shore. It’s really nice.
There’s a reason it’s called the “capital of the west.” The river flows through Flagstaff and it is quite beautiful. It’s also one way. There are only two bridges in the area. You can see the river from one bridge, but it is not connected to the other.
In this case I’m referring to the Flagstaff River Bridge. The river crosses the town and then flows in one direction. The bridge is an old wooden bridge that connects the town to the rest of the world. It’s a very old wooden bridge that was built in the early 20th century. It’s not very high so it was not really in use when I was there. This is also why it was not built to any standards.

The bridge was originally built as a railroad bridge before the railroad was removed and moved to the desert. The bridge is so old that it was once used for the railroad and was called “The Desert Railway”. Once the railroad was removed, the bridge became the main road to the outlying desert communities.
The bridge is now also used as a place to travel by automobile rather than train. It is the only part of the bridge that was closed for the last four years. When I was there, the main span was closed and the car traffic shifted to smaller roadways. The other two spans remained open.
